Our goal was to bring the vision of the owner, Nick Thomas (Qdos Entertainment), to life and create a refined, relaxing environment for diners whilst retaining the quirkiness and theatrical link for which it is famed.
Entering the original interior of the Copper Horse was rather like stepping into an in-depth visual biography of Nick’s theatrical career. Every wall, nook and cranny was simply packed with theatre and puppeteer memorabilia, which although fascinating, was rather intense and created its own “noise”.
We retained and incorporated carefully selected items of theatre memorabilia into our design and set them within a bold new environment of tactile timber panels, rich velvets, bespoke lighting and a craftsman made hammered copper bar top. The walls became a gallery for portraits and caricatures of stage stars throughout Nick’s varied career.
Regular diners visiting the refurbished Copper Horse are appreciative of the new, grown up gentlemen’s-club type interior, and have commented that the dining environment is still as interesting as ever.
